One of Sweden`s oldest settlements, Uppsala, on the banks of the Fyrisan river, is additionally an energetic college town. On the remaining day of April crowds of college students carrying caps parade via the city for the everyday spring season celebrations.

Dominating the town`s desirable medieval centre is the Domkyrkan, Scandinavia`s biggest Gothic cathedral. Its vaults, which date from 1435, include the relics of Sweden`s buyer saint, Saint Erik. The onion-domed Gustavianum, contrary the cathedral, dates from the 1620s and homes the Upsala University Museum. Among the museum`s many well-known shows are a 17th-century anatomical theatre and Egyptian, Classical, and Nordic antiquities. Just a brief stroll away stands the Carolina Rediviva, the amazing college library.




Upsala Slott, the town`s hilltop fortress, used to be constructed in the sixteenth century via King Gustav Vasa, even though it was once later destroyed through fire. Now restored, it additionally homes the Uppsala Art Museum.

A brief bus experience north of the city centre, Gamla Uppsala is the website online of the Kungshogarna, royal burial mounds believed to date from the sixth century.
