Finding The Best Deal When Looking For A Hotel

A hotel room might be for business or pleasure, but either way, you want to be comfortable and satisfied with your stay. Choosing the wrong hotel can be costly and regrettable, not to mention uncomfortable. Luckily, the tips below are here to help you avoid the nightmare of an overpriced horror of a hotel.

If you are travelling for work and staying at a hotel, ask for a room at least some reasonable distance from the pool area. You will probably want to be in a place where you can concentrate. The noise levels near a pool can be distracting. Pick a quiet room where you can be productive.

When you are staying at a hotel, it is a good idea to leave a small tip for the housekeeping staff. It is best to tip daily instead of waiting until the entire trip has come to an end since there is a chance that the same person will not be assisting you every day.

When travelling with children, be sure the hotels you choose offer features the kids will enjoy. A playground on site is very helpful. A pool with plenty of shallow areas and a kiddie pool will provide great playtime. Also, check to see if the hotel you are interested in offers a child care service.

Check out your room ahead of unpacking. Is the room clean? Do you see any mould or mildew? Do a quick check to ensure that the shower, sink and toilet are all in proper working order. Make sure you have the linens, bath supplies and towels that you will need. If you see any issues, be sure to tell the front desk. This way, they can fix the problems or switch rooms for you.

Are you a member of the AAA? If so, find out about membership discounts at hotels. It may surprise you that AAA gives hotel discounts, but most of them do. You can save 5 per cent or even more on hotels around the country. These savings quickly add up, especially if you are staying for multiple nights in a row.

If you go out to travel quite a bit, it's good to get signed up for a hotel's loyalty program. They provide benefits to anyone who stays at a hotel chain frequently. The rewards can include free room upgrades, free meals and movie or show tickets tickets. The points can add up.

Be sure to check for online deals. Most of the time, you can get cheaper deals by taking a few minutes to search for them on the Internet. It is a great way to choose your hotel. You will find deals this way that the hotels won't tell you about over the phone.

If you forget to bring toiletries with you, the housekeeping staff at the hotel may be able to help. Most hotels provide soap, shampoo and conditioner as a matter of course, but they may also have toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, razors and other necessary items on hand for those who request them. Many even supply hair dryers in the room, so you do not have to bring your own along.

Stay safe and secure in a hotel. Travellers to hotels are often robbed, even when they are inside the room. Use every lock the hotel provides, including the handle lock, chain and deadbolt. Hotels are a magnet for shady characters looking to exploit people who are travelling with a lot of money and valuables.

Accommodations

Before beginning a hotel search, try thinking about what accommodations you want and can afford. Figure out if the hotel's location is more important than its price or if you limited to hotels under a certain price range. Also, consider whether you need one that has items like spas and fitness centres or just a beautiful view.

If you are travelling with pets, be sure to select hotels that have good accommodations for them. This is especially true if you are planning on an extended stay. A good hotel that allows pets should have amenities for them. These might include and groomer, doggy daycare and special walking areas.

Read reviews on hotels before you book your rooms. Sites like Yelp, TripAdvisor and FireFlies have reviews from travellers who share their experiences and rate the accommodations. A hotel that has a couple of reviews may not present an accurate picture, but if many reviews have a common opinion about a hotel, you can rely on that more.

If you are not going to be in your hotel much, don't pay for a three-star hotel or higher. It does not make sense to book pricey accommodations if all you are going to do in them is sleep. Choose a two-star hotel instead. This will give you extra cash to spend on your vacation.

To save money on hotel expenses, you might want to consider travelling with friends. Booking several rooms together and sharing accommodations is a great way to save money. You may be able to get a group rate. Even if not, sharing the expense will help your vacation dollars stretch farther.

As you are choosing a hotel to stay at, consider your priorities. If you are out most of the day and evening sightseeing, it may not be worth it to pay high prices for an expensive room where you will sleep. On the other hand, if you plan to stay around the hotel a lot, then it may be worth it to pay more for fancier accommodations.

If you have an issue with service or the accommodations, be nice when you are reporting them. After all, it is not the clerk's fault if a thermostat doesn't work or there is a cleanliness issue. Being nice to them helps you gain an ally in the situation, and they will do all they can to fix the problem.

Whether your stay is for business or pleasure, you want to have a pleasant stay. You also want the satisfaction of knowing that you got a good deal. So keep the hints listed above in your bag of tricks as you book your next stay. You will find that it pays off in saving and in satisfaction.
