The best ways to plan travel plans ........

Before a person is ready to travel, many things need to be done, in a short amount of time, before he or she, actually gets going. Fortunately, by reading the tips in this article, you can better prioritize before you are about to start your travels, wherever that may be.

When booking flights for travel, always select your specific seat in advance. This ensures that you will get the seat you want, be it aisle, window, or emergency exit row. It also helps prevent you from getting bumped to standby in the event of an overbooking, since your seat assignment is locked in.

If you're purchasing souvenirs as gifts while travelling, be creative. You can use a local newspaper as gift wrap to give it a special touch. This works especially well if the newspaper is in a foreign language or has photographs. Other low-cost souvenir gifts include matchbooks, coasters and clean napkins.

Check prices directly with your hotel or airline company to save money on your trip. Although it is often small, some search engine sites add a fee to their rates. To avoid the fee, check the airline website directly or give the hotel a call for their rates. You will typically find that the rates are lower when you book directly.

Do not travel with wrapped gifts. When travelling for the holidays, it is tempting to get things done ahead of time and wrap all of your gifts, but don't! The TSA does not allow wrapped gifts onto airlines, and they may need to unwrap the gifts to inspect their contents.

On your next flight, chew gum to keep your ears from popping on take off. The pressure changes during a flight can pop your ears. This is not particularly painful. It is, however, rather annoying. Before take-off, start chewing a stick of gum. This will often prevent your ears from popping or at least, ease the pressure.

To bring everything you need on your trip, you need to have reliable luggage. If your luggage is old or cannot contain everything you need, you should go buy new luggage. Do not hesitate to buy expensive luggage. The quality guarantees that your belongings will be protected and good luggage should last you for years.

Travelling to a foreign country can be fun, but not knowing what the locals are saying is not. Carry a small book of common phrases and translations to help you on your trip. This can really help when you need to ask for directions or book a hotel room for the night.

If you're on vacation and you arrive at the hotel only to find out that you left the charger to your cell phone, video game, tablet, or whatever at home, don't panic! Go down to the front desk and ask nicely if they have one you can use. Most hotels have a box of chargers that past guests have left behind, and you can probably find one that fits your device.

Keeping organized during the hectic schedule that you can often experience, right before you are about to travel ensures that you do not forget any key item that you want to take with you. As things get chaotic before you leave, you will need to remain level-headed.
