There is a magical valley in the Himalayan mountains of the Uttranchal Garhwal Mountains. Here, clean river flower pastures are placed against silver birch trees and glittering snow peaks. The dew is thick on the flower, the birds are singing in the surrounding forest, the air is clean and filled with the smell of flowers.
Hidden from the prying eyes of civilization, this valley was known to the population as the Bhyundar Valley, which was a playground for fairies and nymphs. They avoided crossing their heavenly vacation, though the shepherds seized the freedom to graze their cattle here.
Legend has it that this valley is associated with the area from which Hanumanji in Ramayana collected the “Sanjeevani” herbs to revive Lamahmana, Rama’s younger brother. Hanuman had to visit remote areas in search of life-saving herbs.
Frank S. Smith - a climber, mountaineer, botanist who camped here for several weeks during the 1937 monsoon and did valuable exploratory work and introduced the valley to the world as the Valley of Flowers.
A 7 km. The road between Pulna and Bhyundar village is full of picturesque splendour of nature, including cascading waterfalls and cold water springs. Shrubs and wild roses grow in abundance, and rhododendrons are pink and dark red. Along the way, small stalls run along with tea stalls and young and enthusiastic tourist guides can take part in Bhyundar village. After resting here for a while, the hike on the right bank of Laxman Ganga continues through the rich vegetation to a log bridge that is currently supported and the road will become steeper and heavier and 2km long. From here you can reach Ghangharia, the base camp for excursions to the Flower Valley and Hemkund Sahib. As camping and overnight stays are not allowed in the Flowers Valley, Ghangharia is the logical base camp of the tour.
